Sellers Nominated for State HR Professional of the Year Award

Sharon Sellers was recently nominated for the South Carolina Human Resources Professional of the Year Award, sponsored by the SC State Chamber of Commerce and the SC State SHRM Council. Sellers is president of SLS Consulting, a premier HR Services and Training firm headquartered in Summerville, SC. Fourteen other candidates were nominated across the state. The awards ceremony was held in Columbia on February 15, 2007. "Although I did not win the top award at the ceremony, I am extremely appreciative to have been nominated. The caliber of the HR professionals nominated was outstanding, and I am grateful to have been associated with so many people who share with me the passion of being in Human Resources," Sellers said.

"We were all told that every nominee should plan an acceptance speech in the chance that we would win the award. As I thought about this, and acceptance speeches in general, I realized that it is a shame that we wait until we win awards or achieve major milestones before we thank those who have helped us along the way. This thought process was really a 'wake up call' to be more communicative to those who have lent me a hand through my career and personal growth. There are so many people who have offered me support and motivation throughout my life and most of them probably have no idea what they have meant to me. My goal for 2007 is to make a point to thank them for their friendship." posted February 2007
